We offer an excellent selection of fun and enriching classes in many of the arts disciplines. Ages 4 to 18, will enjoy these fun camps. All camps are offered for one week per camp. Camps run on consecutive days for a week. Pre-registration is required for all camps. Taught by experienced art professionals, and designed to provide individual attention and feedback, our camps are sure to educate and inspire artists of all ages. All supplies are included unless otherwise noted in the camp description.
Students will discover art through exploration of their favorite art mediums in a studio setting. Taught by artists working in their area of expertise, full or half-day programs will allow participants to try different mediums in the mornings and afternoons.
Learn about traditional photography through the creation of a pinhole camera and using darkroom developing techniques to create black and white photographs.
Learn coil, slab, and pinch pottery techniques while completing your own unique pieces of pottery.
Drawing & Painting
Learn how to draw and paint using a variety of mediums on different surfaces.
Learn how to draw and develop original characters and how to use essential visual storytelling techniques
Create colorful paintings of real objects using acrylic paint. Topics include color mixing, color theory, and mark making techniques.
Drawing from Life
Learn how to draw from objects using graphite and charcoal, learn advanced shading and drafting techniques to achieve a professional finish to drawings.
Learn 3D art making techniques to create sculptures from wire, paper mache, cardboard, or clay to create original artworks or functional objects.
Learn to use a loom to weave functional and decorative art. Work together on a large installation in the main gallery. Explore dying fabrics with natural resources.
Art intensive courses provide students with advanced level art skills. Receive one-on-one instruction from college professors to help further their art making abilities.
Learn sculptural techniques to create original artwork based on sketches or images. Develop an understanding of dimension and craftsmanship and use basic hand tools to sculpt with wire, plaster or foam.
Learn how to paint with oils including color theory, mixing, and blending. Subjects will include still lifes and self portraits.
Art & Music for Special Needs
For ages 5-13, a program for children living with traumatic brain injuries, cerebral palsy, & other physical & developmental disabilities. The camp offers adaptable art & music designed to enable campers to express their creativity. Offered free of charge to eligible campers. Please complete the online application as enrollment is limited.
Get your passport to creativity! Participants will explore destinations around the world through a variety of mediums, styles and artists. Individual and collaborative activities. Full or half-day programs are available, with different projects offered in the mornings and afternoons.
Explore the world of theatre including how to build a scene, make costumes, conquer stage fright, and develop your character. Walk over to Aiken Community Theatre for a backstage tour. Show off new skills with a live performance for parents on Friday.
PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR ALL CLASSES & CAMPS.
Class registration is taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration closes when classes meet maximum capacity. Teaching Artists are unable to admit students who have not registered in advance. Full payment by check, cash or credit card is required to secure a space in a class. There is a $2 processing fee for online transactions.
ACA members receive a 10% discount on most classes, camps and workshops with the exception of music classes.

Inclement Weather Policy
It is our policy to close for inclement weather conditions when Aiken Public Schools are closed (listen to local radio/TV bulletins). Call us at 803-641-9094 or check our website/Facebook page for updated information as weather conditions can change during the day. If a class is cancelled due to weather, a make-up class may be arranged.
If you cancel your registration after it has been processed, but at least seven business days before the class begins, we will refund your class fee (less a $10 cancellation fee). If you cancel with less than seven business days’ notice, no refund will be given. ACA reserves the right to cancel classes with low enrollment. If we must cancel a class, we will issue a full refund.
